Berlin-based DADDY magazine is celebrating its sixth year and its newest issue JOY with a launch party at Hallesches Haus. The magazine was founded as a medium to explore important issues in a fun and approachable way, with marginalised voices at its centre.
Founder Kemi Fatoba wanted to create something truly inclusive and intersectional in its scope. In her words, “we wanted to tell our own stories rather than wait until we were given the opportunity.” In its six years of telling these stories, DADDY has grown from an online magazine to an annual print publication. Now, they also take on exciting collabs like their recent project with Nike, or helping to create the 48-hour intersectional film festival #BraveFutures with OTV.
Their newest issue, JOY, focusses on stories, poetry, and art which prioritise Black and queer joy. Whether it be love, friendship, or self-acceptance, the magazine has curated a heartwarming selection of affirmative stories which centre joy and belonging.
Come along to the launch event to celebrate the release of the JOY issue, grab yourself an advance copy, and meet the brilliant creators behind it. You can purchase an entry ticket for a suggested €5 donation, or get an all-inclusive ticket with entry, a welcome drink, a copy of the newest issue, and a DADDY tote for €25.
