We know using the word ‘extravaganza’ to describe an event is a bit over the top, but sometimes it’s pretty fitting, you know? LOLA Club is two things: 1) a brand new monthly event featuring scintillating live acts, top-drawer DJs and even a comedian as the compere and 2) a fresh curated Berlin guide and members club from LOLA Magazine. All this is happening on the same night. So yes, we’re calling it an extravaganza.
The selection of live acts and DJs is the fine work of renowned musician Craig Walker. For this debut event there will be performances from the inventive electronica-leaning popstress Novaa, the Berlin-based, American-born, dripping-in-soul singer-songwriter Sara Hartman, the deft-of-touch producer, composer, and guitarist Owen Ross, and a maiden performance from Craig’s brand new collaboration with Eric Alcock – Craig Walker & The Cold.
DJ duties on the night will be taken care of by veritable living legend Mark Reeder and LOLA’s very own Jonny Tiernan – between them you can expect to hear all kinds of musical bases being covered, from obscure electro to sweat-soaked disco and from sultry trance to spiky post-punk. Scottish stand-up comedian and unstoppable rib poker Chris Davis will be compering for the evening and keeping the vibes high.
The venue itself is an underground basement that is being renovated literally right now (we say literally right now, but depending on when you’re reading this people may well be sleeping). It’s gonna be a hot and hyped night. Get down to get down!
