This is the first solo hour show by Berlin-based, Slovenian comedian Anja Woot, and oh boy is it worth your time. We first got to know Anja through the Berlin New Stand-Up Award back in 2019. She didn’t win the award (which was a low-key crime, in our opinion), but she did make a big impression – on us especially. Her off-kilter, oddballish sense of humour is sharp and has a knack of pulling laughs from unexpected places.
Over the past four years Anja has been performing comedy all over Europe, and the bright spark she revealed at the Stand-Up awards has been honed into a laser-sharp act that intertwines personal stories with full on weirdo twists, in the best possible way. You know that feeling when laughter is mixed with surprise and your brain does a little happy somersault in response to an out of the ordinary punchline? That’s the feeling you have when you watch Anja perform.
As well as being a kickass stand-up comedian in her own right, Anja is also one third of the powerhouse female collective Queen Bees Comedy. As the trio, they run a number of monthly showcase events that provide an invaluable platform for womxn and LGBTQI+ performers.
