Ain’t no party like an end of year party, especially when it’s a double team effort and a juicy lineup. LOLA has joined forces with Berlin-based independent record label Hot Concept to put together a shindig to send 2022 out the door with a bang.
A sharply curated selection of acts from the label stable and some prime LOLA choices make up the billing, with an even split between live performers and DJs.
Releasing her second album ‘Don’t Look Now!’ on Hot Concept in 2022, Yr Lovely Dead Moon is the project of UK-born, Berlin-based artist Rachel Margetts. Avant-garde pop music reminiscent of Anne Clark or Jenny Hval, Margetts powerful performances blend tenderness and tension.
Having released her debut album ‘Hold Space’ in October, Polish-born, Berlin-based artist Joa Luna is on something of a tear right now. Her music in an intricate blend of electronica, ambient and broken beats, and she interweaves her musical expression with expression through movement. Joa is following up the album release with unique visual counterparts for each of the 13 tracks, giving even more depth and life to her artistic vision.
Releasing his first solo material in 2021, the acclaimed ‘Diet Cult’ tape, the ambitious but charming loket project sees Tahl Klainmann exploring live, modulated saxophone production with the continuum of ambient, trance and hardcore influences.
LOLA’s Jonny Tiernan secured his first club residency at the tender age of 18 and he has been playing clubs constantly ever since. He cut his teeth playing techno but now has a style that encompasses dance-punk, disco, house and whatever else tickles his fancy.
A sonically malleable music obsessive and founder of Hot Concept itself, John Loveless is a DJ, producer and radio host also known for his creative work at the labels Cooking With Palms Trax and Phantasy, where he recently released the anthemic ‘Highdive’ alongside Gramrcy.
Having spent a decade roaming the full spectrum of the music industry, Vio PRG ends 2022 having brightened Berlin’s club scene as a DJ, radio host, writer and tutor. Her Flight Mode show on Refuge Worldwide infuses both old and new school house and techno with balearic, disco and afrobeat.
Let’s end 2022 on a high.
