OK, I’m going to level with you here – I love YACHT. Like, I really love them. I just checked the date of the first YACHT track in my collection and it’s 2009. That means I’ve been loving YACHT for more than a decade. I play them in pretty much everyone of my DJ sets (including this DJ mix, what a gratuitous plug). Their brand of warped, dance-centric, post-punk is 100% my thing. They are funky and weird. They are great live. They can do no wrong (even when their fake sex tape PR stunt didn’t work out quite as planned). They have style and a great sense of aesthetics. Wait, did I say they could do no wrong? I LIED! What is up with their new press pics?! It’s all of the band members’ faces melded together into some kind of nightmarish conglomerate. My guess is that this is some sort of artistic statement that almost went over my head. I say almost, as it actually just flew straight into my eyes and now I am crying.

Anyway, questionable press images aside, YACHT are just a great band and if you’re into dancing and having a good time and hearing cool tunes then I guess I’ll see you at the front.

(P.S. here and here are some examples of old and cool press shots from Yacht in case you think I am overreacting (which I clearly am)).
