Nip & Tuck

A sewing workshop with a 'make do and mend' attitude

Words By Marc Yates

Date: 30.01.17
Venue: Berlin Sewing Salon
Time: 18:30 – 21:30

Whether you have an unrealised passion for sewing, or loads of beautiful vintage pieces that just don’t fit you right, or a hole in your favourite dress, workshops at Berlin Sewing Salon are well worth checking out.

Their next focuses on repairs and alterations, and it’s a three-hour course for complete beginners combining practical skills, a social environment and the know-how of the organisers. The first two hours will focus on teaching hand-stitching techniques for mending, hemming and giving clothes a better shape, and the final hour will be an open workshop where you can put your new-found skills to practice.

For those who don’t own a sewing machine and don’t know the eye of a needle from their elbow, this is a great way to get started with stitching and spend some time with some crafty people. So grab your clothes that need mending or altering and head to the Berlin Sewing Salon, equipment and refreshments will be included.

A ticket for the full three-hour workshop is €30, and for those who have the skills but just need advice or help with a tricky alteration, it’s €10 for the final hour only.
