Queeres B Film Festival
presents Cocoon (Kokon)
________________________
Category: Film
Where: Freiluftkino Kreuzberg
When: 21:30
Admission: €8.50
The Queeres B film festival, celebrating queer films through the ages in Berlin, is hosting an open air screening of Cocoon (Kokon) at Freiluftkino Kreuzberg. The film was written and directed by Leonie Krippendorff and was featured in the last Berlinale’s Generation section. Cocoon is a feel-good coming-of-age story about a young girl, Nora, growing up in Kreuzberg and slowly discovering her sexuality. After floating through her life as a silent observer, Nora starts to feel alive when she meets a new classmate, Romy, and starts to discover both her identity and her own body. The film’s title symbolises the themes of the film perfectly and the segments of hand-held camera work and sunny Kreuzberg summer setting add the perfect glow to this empowering story about adolescence.

Critical Mass
________________________
Category: Protest
Where: Mariannenplatz / Kreuzberg
When: 20:00
Admission: Free
Critical Mass is a protest that takes place on the last Friday of each month. A huge group of cyclists gather to protest against the systematic disadvantage that cyclists experience worldwide, and collectively stand up for their rights as equal road users. The slew of protestors ride together as tightly-knit as possible in a single lane of the highway or on local roads while adhering to traffic rules and regulations. The protest is peaceful and is not meant to provoke other drivers, rather to reclaim a piece of the publicly accessible roads that cyclists have the right to drive upon safely. The group gathers around the fire station at Mariannenplatz in Kreuzberg and then drives through Berlin as a group.
