We personally know of a few people who claim that the onset of their tinnitus was the direct result of attending a Lightning Bolt show in Belfast. At the show in question, the band played on very low stage with around 300 people crowded around all sides, sans barrier. This is how the band likes it, of course. Often they’ll play right in the middle of the floor, or in a parking lot, or wherever. It makes for a visceral, intense and sweaty experience.
Not only does the band like it close, they like it LOUD. It’s how this kind of noise-rock should be experienced after all, with the noise cranked up as loud as it can go. In Belfast the proximity and noise resulted in an almost constant ringing in the ears. Apparently it was worth it. We’re not sure if they’re going to play right in the middle of Panorama Bar, but our advice is to bring ear plugs.
