It’s hard to challenge the notion that technology has enriched our lives in countless ways. However, as technological advances continue to proliferate and infiltrate our daily lives, it’s hard to fight the feeling that reality itself is becoming a curated phenomenon. As we embark on a new era where our realities are curated and often virtual, our bodies malleable, and our facts “alternative facts”, it’s hard to fight the feeling that technology may be paving the way to a darker future.
Artists Andreas Greiner and Armin Keplinger expose and exploit this disquiet in their upcoming exhibition Golden Gates, opening Saturday January 28th from 7-10pm. Wrestling with themes such as the use of virtual reality in the military and medical fields, to the technological manipulation of natural phenomena, the artists combine technology with natural elements such as air and water, at once honouring and challenging our changing environment. Seductive and unnerving, the landscape of our present acts here as material for an artistic investigation, begging the questions that’s likely on all our minds: what will the future hold?
The exhibition runs from 28th January till 11th March 2017; Opening hours are Wednesday – Saturday 13:00 – 19:00.
