Dark Matter is the permanent exhibition space from Christopher Bauder and his team at WHITEvoid design studio. It houses a number of his unique art installations, all of which sit at the intersection of technology, art, design and sound. Christopher is perhaps best known for his large-scale works such as Skalar and Deep Web, which have taken residence in Kraftwerk as well as touring throughout the world. If you were lucky enough to see one of these exhibitions, you’ll have the gist of what to expect.
There are seven different installations in total, and you get to make your way from room to room at your own pace and experience the pieces in your own way. Each work is markedly different, but they all share the fact that they present incredibly creative and fascinating combinations of light, sculpture and sound. All of the works on show are creations that Christopher and his studio have developed and exhibited over the years, which means they are well refined and on point.
Dark Matter is currently one of the most visited attractions in the whole city, including every single mainstream tourist offering you can think of. The fact that a leftfield and innovative art installation is so popular tells you two things: 1) Berliners and tourists have excellent taste, and 2) Dark Matter really is a quintessential Berlin experience.
