Housed in an old hospital that looks like something straight out of a Bram Stoker novel, this much-loved local gallery is a firm favourite for weekend wanderings – and it’s free. Much like the building’s history – it was once the site of a famous Berlin squat – exhibitions here are renowned for challenging the status quo and tackling topics du jour.
Right now the gallery is hosting Aliens are temporary – a mutating tale, a thought-provoking exhibition that explores our multipart, temporary realities using a host of artistic mediums. Having gone through three mutations featuring work from a host of Berlin artists, the evolutionary exhibition entered its third and final iteration on May 18. If you like art that makes a critical statement in that oh-so Berliner bent, this one’s for you.
