ROK Music

A weekend of indie from the Republic of Korea

Maggie Devlin

Date: 02.06.17 and 04.06.17
Venue: Bei Ruth and The Rusty Nail
Time: 21:00 and 19:00

57, pronounced ‘Oh Chill’, hail from Seoul’s neon and noise-blown indie district of Hongdae. Searing riffs and drums that shake your rib cage into your throat, this rock duo grace Neukölln’s Bei Ruth following their ten-day jaunt through the UK as part of BangOn’s Clash Symbols showcase. They join Party Fears and HEKLA for one of the newest and most promising live music events. Our very own DJ Jonny Tiernan and world’s tallest DJ, SOFAKID play out the night with their scalding collection of disco punk.

If you catch the Korean rock bug (and you will), Billy Carter – a blues rock three-piece also from the Hongdae music scene – play The Rusty Nail, Ostkreuz on June 4th. Hot on the heels of their stint at Primavera, Billy Carter deliver the kind of clench-jawed rock that’s part Keith Richards with a ciggy hanging from his mouth, part demented aunt dancing at your cousin’s wedding. It’s going to be a sweaty, memorable affair.
